Only 10% of businesses make more than three “touches” with a prospect. However, 10% of sales are made after the 4th touch. What's a touch you ask? It is a marketing activity or communication done to promote your business and your brand to potential, new and existing customers. A touchpoint or commonly called "touch" could be a direct mail item, email campaign, print or digital advertisement, phone call or even an old fashioned face-to-face meeting. The hope is that these touches convert to a conversation and new sales. Many marketing experts recommend 8 to 12 touches a year depending on the campaign your utilize. Sounds daunting? Well, one way to accomplish this is with The Almighty Database. That's right, a program where you collect potential, new and current customer contact information. It can be as simple as a spreadsheet, an outlook email list or a custom database.
So how are you utilizing your database? Wait, what was that? You don’t really have an active database? You need one, desperately. My experience and training with creating back office tools for many businesses, uniquely positions me to offer my clients options that fit their needs. When you have a database that you actively maintain, you can use that tool to market in a whole new way. Did you know that the contacts that you have met, should be marketed to differently than the contacts you have never met? There are also different types of “touches” that you can utilize to keep you front of mind and encourage a future sale. Over the next few weeks, I will focus on the ways a business can utilize a well maintained database. We are Your Right Hand!
